WE LOVE BROGUES!

Here at TCC we love Brogues- wingtip leather/suede goodness. Maybe it's reminiscent of 1920s dapper mens footwear and because the TCC girls tend to dress like boys. And lets not forget they are extremely comfortable. I like how this style of shoe is more available to women these days- I remember 8 years ago standing in front of mens footwear storefront windows, and cursing the gods as to why I wasn't a women's size 10 to at least fit a mens size 9. The good thing about these bad boys is they pretty much go with anything and transforms everyday outfits to the semi-formal league- and gives you street cred too, well I like to think so anyway.

To follow up from Monday's post on Richard Mosse's The Enclave, here is video about the work via vimeo- it was the editors pick and rightfully so. Watching this interview added a new dimension on how I view Richard's photographs, I still find the images and film to be beautiful, despite the subject matter. I really hope this installation will be shown in the 2014 Sydney Biennale. Fingers crossed!

PHOTOGRAPHY INSPIRATION: THE ENCLAVE by RICHARD MOSSE

16mm infrared film was used to capture these magnificent images. What would normally be green, infrared film shot in daylight creates a magenta hue. I was drawn to The Enclave with it's vibrant colours, and Mosse distorting the perception of what colour landscape photographs should be. Looking at the images, fantasy-like wonder and awe are the thoughts that come to mind. The contradiction of subject and landscape is anything but beautiful.

"The Enclave immerses the viewer in a challenging and sinister world, exploring aesthetics in a situation of profound human suffering. At the heart of the project, as Mosse states, is an attempt to bring “two counter-worlds into collision: art’s potential to represent narratives so painful that they exist beyond language, and photography’s capacity to document specific tragedies and communicate them to the world."
