EAT ME

TheCruzCollective_Food&Drinks_LatestPlaces

Here at The Cruz Collective HQ we are constantly on the look out for new places to grab a bite to eat or to have a few drinks with mates. Below is a small list of places where we've been making the rounds.

The Cornerstone Bar & Food, located in Carriageworks is our new local. Awesome set up inside - textured walls, beams, high ceilings, a mix of modern and old furniture.... Great place to hang out for lunch, dinner or even for some sneaky drinks. Check it out!...

245 Wilson St, Darlington 2008

Kepos Street Kitchen can be found on the border of Waterloo and Redfern. A chic place that was constantly recommended by my girlfriend. We finally made it randomly one night for dinner - I suggest you make a booking beforehand. The restaurant has a minimalist feel but enter the back, you see a stunning detail to tile art. The food is amazing with a European twist. My mouth is watering thinking about it!

96 Kepos St, Redfern NSW 2016

Le Pub, use to be an old dirty bar we use to hit up during our prime, and now has been refurbished into this French style pub. Walk in downstairs on a Friday night and you will be welcomed in with the roar of TGIF rat-race-drinkers, be lucky for a tamed burlesque show too. It's cool because our regular table is still in the same location so "those memories" are still there.

INSTAGRAM WE LOVE: MIJA MIJA

My mate referred me to this instagram by way of tag. Mija Mija is where all my fashion dreams come true. Staples that consist of denim cut offs, denim boyfriend jeans, breton striped tops, white shirts and sneakers. Black, white, grey, and denim blue are normally the clothing colour tones of choice.
It's like a reflection of wardrobe but heaps cooler of course. Get on it kids follow Mija on instagram (@mija_mija) and her cool blog (http://mija.creatorsofdesire.com/)

"People describe me as an easy- going bavarian girl. I love life in my "Bavarian-California" as I prefer to describe my geographical position in the center of Munich. If it`s through roadtrips in our Muscle-Car exploring the beauty of the region in the summer - pulling out my longboard here and there or enjoying deep powder rides in the near by alps on my snowboard during the winter. My style appears bright, calm with a focus on details that shout out loud. Let`s see where the future will take me."

ANDREW RAE

THECRUZCOLLECTIVE_Illustrator_AndrewRae1_660x1200 THECRUZCOLLECTIVE_Illustrator_AndrewRae2_660x1200

I first saw Andrew Rae's work while I was living in London 2009. I went on a art gallery crawl in Shoreditch and Bethnal Green. I spotted one of his prints at Concrete Hermit's Gallery Opening - I even had the photo of the print (click here to see).

It was a mono print illustration of different characters, all with something humorous about them. I spent a while just staring at the print, reading and imagining the different narratives that each character had and how they related to each other. I was in love!!

My last year living in London I went to the Somerset House for the 'Pick Me Up Exhibition'. Andrew Rae had his work presented alongside his Illustration Collective 'Peepshow'. I fell in love with one of his prints - and bought one! I even met the real deal and took a snap shot with him!

Andrew Rae's illustrative style takes me back to University during my Illustrative classes doing comic narratives. He's my inspiration!

Can you guess which clothes are Mary's and which clothes are Maria's? Repeat offenders in our wardrobes, the staples that we keep going back to during Sydney's winter. Which might I add, winter time is insane sunny days at 18-20 degrees. Winning!

WE LOVE BROGUES!

Here at TCC we love Brogues- wingtip leather/suede goodness. Maybe it's reminiscent of 1920s dapper mens footwear and because the TCC girls tend to dress like boys. And lets not forget they are extremely comfortable. I like how this style of shoe is more available to women these days- I remember 8 years ago standing in front of mens footwear storefront windows, and cursing the gods as to why I wasn't a women's size 10 to at least fit a mens size 9. The good thing about these bad boys is they pretty much go with anything and transforms everyday outfits to the semi-formal league- and gives you street cred too, well I like to think so anyway.

If you're wondering what brand of shoes I am wearing, here you go: 1) Zomp 2)  I love Billy 3) Topshop 4) Topshop 5) ASOS
